The Leadership Westerville- MLK Legacy Project invites you to attend the 16th Annual Westerville Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. Our theme for 2021 is "The Moral Imperative to Love." In light of the unusual health circumstances facing our community, our 2021 celebration is entirely virtual and free to the public on Monday, January 18, 2021 beginning at 8 a.m.
Everything you've come to expect and enjoy from past celebrations will be available at your fingertips. We are fortunate to have the incomparable Angela An, WBNS 10TV serving as our emcee. We will honor two exceptional community leaders who exemplify Dr. King's legacy in our community, enjoy the voices of Westerville South students, and be inspired by our keynote speaker, Westerville's own, Father Joseph Kovitch, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.
This event is free for our community this year and we ask that you consider making a donation in lieu of purchasing a ticket. All of the proceeds from the breakfast will be used to support the work of the LW-MLK Legacy Project in "Advancing Towards Becoming the Beloved Community," including our series of Community Conversations.
All registrations must be in by noon on Sunday, January 17, 2021 to receive the link to attend. Links will be sent to attendees Sunday
JOIN US in the evening for our first Community Conversation of 2021, "The Moral Imperative to Love - How do I do that?" from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. This conversation will be facilitated by our Keynote Fr. Joe as he provides a practical application of his speech to our daily lives. Learn more here.
MEET OUR KEYNOTE: FR. JOSEPH KOVITCH
Father Joseph Kovitch is a child of God who is committed to being a servant leader and seeks to honor the image of God in all people. He serves as both priest at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Uptown Westerville and as Columbus area church developer/planter creating new ways of being a church with and for the community. Fr. Joseph and his wife Marie have been married for 34 years and have two sons. He has been ordained for 27 years and has committed himself to Martin Luther King’s vision of the Beloved Community. As your keynote speaker, you should know that he is a follower of Jesus Christ who seeks to live the moral imperative to love and who celebrates the beautiful diversity of God’s children of all creeds, races, cultures, and loves. He is a leader committed to the words of Micah 6:8: He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
