Social Security Pension Lunch and Learn

If you are a retired teacher, police officer, firefighter, or other public sector employee you may soon see an increase in your Social Security benefits. President Biden has signed the Social Security Fairness Act, eliminating the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO), which previously reduced benefits for many public retirees. As a result, you could receive higher monthly payments and may also be eligible for a retroactive lump sum covering reductions back to January 2024.
For some of you these changes will take effect automatically beginning April 2025, but now is an excellent time to review your retirement and pension strategy.
