Featuring Lori Gillett, CEO Corna Kokosing
Lori Gillett became CEO of Corna Kokosing in July 2019, continuing her work in the family-owned construction business (full-time since 1996, summer interns and co-ops since Middle School). Lori, a third-generation owner of the family business, began her career as a construction laborer for Kokosing and officially joined the Kokosing group of companies in 1992.In order to keep a pulse on the construction industry, Lori is involved with several associations and organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for SSOE, a worldwide engineering firm, the Advisory Board for the Ohio Northern University Smull College of Engineering. She was recently was reappointed to a second term on the Governor’s Executive Workforce Development Board (serving under both Dewine and Kasich).
Previously she completed terms on the Boards of Directors of the Ohio Contractors Association and the Ohio Dam Safety Organization. Lori has also participated on the Advisory Board for the STEM Industry Council which supports the development of future engineers and STEM professionals from Columbus City Schools and volunteers as a judge for Capstone presentations at the PAST Foundation. Lori served on the Kokosing, Inc. Board of Directors and over the years has served as the President and other roles on the Burgett Family Business Council.
Lori co-founded the new Women’s Ideas and Strategies Exchange (WISE) program, a mentorship program that brings Kokosing female team members together to share experiences and knowledge for personal growth and professional transformation. Lori is looking forward to the further development of the program, and the addition of a camp for middle schoolers next summer focused on peaking interest in construction careers.
Lori lives in Westerville, with her husband Morgan and has two children: Taylor, who is 11; and, Samantha, who is 2. She is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
In her spare time, Lori is a member of the Mount Vernon Country Club, Huntington’s Disease fundraising, Medallion Country Club and the Ritz-Carlton Members Club in Sarasota, Florida. Lori served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a team leader for the American Heart Association for several years.
